The logo communicates the richness and purpose of this endeavour involving a dynamic tripartite partnership among the villagers, the Girls’ Brigade Singapore and partners supporters.
First, we see an EYE. It has been said that the eye is the window to the soul. The village workers have 'Shining Eyes', expressing passion and life in their work. The “Single Eye” represents the full commitment by Girls’ Brigade Singapore to bring hope and meaning to the lives of the villagers. And finally, it speaks of the “Caring Eye” of all who involved to this common, worthy cause.
Second, we see a HAND, representing the working hand of the villagers, the helping hand of Girls' Brigade Singapore and her partners, and your hand engaged with us to bring VillageWorksTM to the marketplace. Put together, we celebrate handiwork and teamwork.
Last, the logo is a symbol of HOPE-HOPE for the people in the villages, and also, for the world when we see the needs of others and stretch out our hands to help our neighbours.
The earthly tone reminds us that we are created from dust and share a higher destiny to do good and help others while on earth.
The name VillageWorksTM expresses our focus on handicrafts produced in small villages using indigenous material, native implements and simple craftsmanship. It also clearly captures our intent to teach villagers the value and meaning of work.
The SongKhem Collection exhibits handicraft works from Cambodia. Collections from other countries will be introduced over time.
